When I click on a company and it lists the personnel, that list can be a bit tough to read if there are more than one or two people listed.

A vertical list would be easier, or even just a bit more spacing or some sort of differentiation of the names would be helpful.

Thanks,
SB

Here’s actually what I’ve been working on:

I limited the max number of employees it shows to 4… otherwise it was getting really long. Another option would be to create a “Personnel” tab and put them there. But I don’t like that because I think it is handy to see personnel as I look at the business card view.

How does this work? Is there a certain number of contacts you’d like to see before it truncates with “and # more”?

Thanks!

That is exactly what I was thinking. I’m not too keen on a personnel tab either, I like being able to see folks right from that view (that’s why I suggested this feature)

4 seems good. Is there a chance it can show the last 4 I looked at, or the 4 that I look at most frequently?

Thanks,
SB

The above image will be there next time we push our code. I’ll put in a feature request for how we select the four contact. Most active would be sweet. Thanks again!

You know, looks like there might be space for two columns

I’m working on tweaking Browse Contacts, so I want to make sure it’ll still fit with the new design, but yes… I’m thinking two columns would be good as well. Thanks!

Is there a way to add another standard field for two websites. I have several contacts that have two sites.

Adam Darowski Administrator 491 post(s)

Right now, you can do it with locations. For example, you can add a work URL and a home URL. You could also create additional locations, such as “blog”. Alternatively, you could store the additional sites via a SuperTag.

Are you findin g that you want to add multiple URLs to one location?

I’m currently setting up Affiliations to also capture eg former employees. Perhaps an idea to list the personal in the Affiliations section?

Adam Darowski Administrator 491 post(s)

Actually, that’s the way we used to do it. :)

But we found that personnel/company is really an affiliation that needs to be raised higher than simply a sidebar list. That’s why we included Company editing in the Contact Detail header and the Personnel section on Company records.

I have actually used former employees as an example for Affiliations many times when demoing BatchBook, mostly because we have a high number of former Amazon folks here. It is just another way that an open and flexible feature like Affiliations can fill several needs.

Hmm… What about and/and instead of or/or, thus listing the data where you do it now and (optionaly?) in the Afiliations section

Been thinking on this… I really do feel the separation of personnel and other affiliations is a good one to make. I’m always hesitant to put too many user settings in the interface… I try to save that for very important ones (such as international formatting, time zone, etc.).

You’re right about keeping things clear. For now, leave it as it is.

Can you let me know how to affiliate an individual with a company? I want to track where people have worked and interviewed. Thanks!

Adam Darowski Administrator 491 post(s)

Hello Paul:

You can affiliate an individual to a company one of two ways…

1. On the INDIVIDUAL’s contact detail, choose “edit name, title & image”. Then, enter the name of the company in the appropriate field.
2. On the COMPANY’s contact detail, in the Personnel section, add a new employee there.

To track former employees and companies people have interviewed with, I recommend Affiliations. From any contact detail sidebar, you can create any type of Affiliation you’d like. For more about Affiliations: http://support.batchblue.com/support/category.php?id=8

Thanks!

Thanks Adam – I’ll try the Affiliation’s again. That’s exacly what we need – just a side note that someone is somehow related to a company other that the one they are an employee of (trade associations etc.)

I was having difficulty creating an affiliation to a company from an individual’s record. It just said no record found despite the spelling of the company being spot on.

Hmmm… please let me know if you’re still seeing that issue. We’ll get to the bottom of it. Thanks!

Adam – can we delete affiliation categories?

Adam Darowski Administrator 491 post(s)

Not yet, but that’s something that cropped up recently. I’ll make sure it’s bumped up the request list. Thanks!

HansD 219 post(s)

Besides delete also an edit of affiliation would be handy (should also already been requested)
